At Gnich Architecture Studio, we believe great design begins with listening. For more than 25 years, we’ve partnered with franchisees, national brands, and construction teams to bring restaurant and retail spaces to life. Our work goes beyond drawings—we help navigate the realities of permitting, coordination, and building across different markets so our clients can focus on growing their businesses. Our Story

Our story begins in 1997.

Jason Gnich was attending the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) when he began working for an Ann Arbor architecture firm doing projects for Tom Monaghan, the founder and then-owner of Domino’s Pizza. At the time, Domino’s locations were delivery-only stores. When the company decided to introduce customer pick-up, stores across the country needed to add customer lobbies.

As the youngest person on the team, Jason was sent to measure the stores. In his first week, he flew to Baltimore and measured more than 60 locations before returning to the office to hand-draft each one.

In 1999, Jason moved west to attend graduate school at the University of Oregon. The firm asked if he wanted to continue working on the Domino’s projects. He agreed, with one condition: he would do the work under his own business.

During graduate school, his fax machine and phone would start ringing early each morning with East Coast clients. Between classes, he continued measuring stores, producing drawings, and growing the business.

That small side business never stopped growing.

Today, what started as a graduate school venture has evolved into a full studio. Our team now works with numerous brands across the country, continuing to build on the same hands-on approach, dedication, and entrepreneurial spirit that started it all.
