Building Electrical Engineer  |   Job Description:

Gnich Architecture Studio, LLC is a locally owned, multidisciplinary (Architectural / Engineering) firm located in close-in SE Portland, Oregon. Our specialties include commercial kitchen /food service projects, coffee stands, and quick serve automotive shops.

Gnich Architecture Studio, LLC is seeking a full time Licensed Professional Electrical Engineer to support small and medium-sized commercial tenant improvement and freestanding building projects, for a variety of Nationwide franchise-based companies.

Projects are fast paced, require a self-directed Engineer to manage multiple simultaneous projects and competing deadlines.

This position requires an individual with excellent management, verbal and written communication skills, will require direct oversight of staff, coordination with other disciplines, direct client/ contractor communication, and coordination with municipal authorities having jurisdiction.

There will be no direct electrical supervision. Candidates must be confident in design ability, coordination with other disciplines, thorough in documentation and back-checking design work. Candidates must be licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Oregon.
Requirements:
  • Assessing existing conditions, planning and designing building electrical systems for commercial and industrial building projects
  • Develop, prepare and/or revise electrical plans and designs for structures, facilities and/or systems on new and existing commercial building design
  • Consult with the client and its agents to establish project requirements
  • Prepare Electrical specifications
  • Working knowledge of State and local building codes, Energy Code, and similar Electrical codes, standards, and regulations
  • Prepare documents for submission to local code authorities, research and apply all necessary local codes, respond to code authority questions and comments, interact with contractors and inspectors as necessary
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Proficient in computer skills that includes software knowledge in Windows, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ready to work in a high paced, high volume project environment
  • Preparing estimates for the Electrical disciplines’ design level of effort to perform associated tasks/scopes of work
  • Power utility coordination
  • Building services and voltage distribution
  • Interior and exterior lighting design
  • Emergency power system
  • Power distribution and calculations
  • Preparation of design criteria, one-line diagrams, and specification for electrical equipment.
  • Resolve EE oriented City Comments
  • Develop construction drawings and review work packages
  • Prepare grounding and bonding plan
  • Complete calculations using analysis software and will use AutoCAD software to design facility electrical systems.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Electrical Engineering Design and Construction within a Professional Services Consulting firm or electrical contracting firm focused on commercial building projects.

  • Licensed Professional Electrical Engineer in the State of OR required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D/3D including the ability to perform hands-on CAD design work. Ability to comply with client CAD standards.
  • Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skill in order to work effectively with the project team.
  • U.S. Citizenship or currently holding a permit to work within the US required
  • Experience in retail and/ or food service facilities design.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Licensure or ability to become a licensed Professional Engineer in multiple states.
